DBKL honoured with special achievement in GIS (SAG) Award 2024

KUALA LUMPUR (July 24): For the first time, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has gained worldwide recognition by receiving the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award 2024 from ESRI Inc. at the ESRI Conference in San Diego, California, United States, on July 17.
In a post on its official Facebook page today, DBKL said that the award was given in recognition of the Kuala Lumpur Underground Utility Data Centre (KLUDC) project, an underground utility data collection system that utilises Geographic Information System technology and is managed by the Geomatics Division, the Valuation and Property Management Department.
KLUDC is a web-based system that enables the collection of underground utility data within road reserves, intended for future uses, including issuing road dredging permits, calculating utility relocation expenses, and supporting development in the area.
In addition, the system facilitates the process of identifying and contacting the relevant utility agency in the event of a disaster, such as a broken pipe or sinkhole.
“It is hoped that this recognition will continue to excel in delivering top-notch services to city folk through more effective planning and development management,” read the post.
Prior to this, the KLUDC project earned the Geoinnovation Award 2023 from ESRI Malaysia on Feb 29.
