KUALA LUMPUR (April 7): The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has blacklisted 109 developers because of non-compliance with regulatory requirements.
Its minister Nga Kor Ming (pictured) revealed the names of the developers and issued a stern warning about the importance of adhering to housing regulations.
“According to the National Housing Department (JPN), a total of 471 notices were issued in 2024, resulting in fines totalling RM9.03 million.
“In the first two months of 2025, JPN issued 56 compounds, with fines amounting to RM1.25 million,” he said during a press conference at the 14th annual Affordable Housing Projects Conference today at the DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
He added that the majority of violations involved failure to submit development status reports, as well as audit reports including balance sheets and profit-and-loss statements to the authorities.
“As a result of the blacklisting, these developers will be ineligible to apply for new licences until they have settled their outstanding fines.
“The blacklisting of these developers sends a clear message that we will not tolerate non-compliance. We are taking strong actions to protect the hard-earned money of homebuyers and to ensure they receive the homes they deserve,” he said.
Nga also mentioned that the welfare of homebuyers remains among the ministry’s top priorities.
