Tropicana completes RM2.5m renewal of R&R centre in Langkawi

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 15): Tropicana Corp Bhd, in a collaboration with the Langkawi Municipal Council Tourism City, has completed the RM2.5 million renewal of the 0.49-acre Pantai Kok rest and recreation (R&R) centre in Langkawi, according to the developer’s press release on Friday.
The initiative saw the upgrading of existing facilities including eight commercial lots, enhanced washroom and surau facilities, and the allocation of more than 70 parking bays for cars, motorcycles and bicycles, to cater for the needs of travellers and visitors and in support of Langkawi’s tourism segment.
In the statement, Tropicana’s group executive director Jared Ang said the renewal of the Pantai Kok R&R centre showcases not just Tropicana’s commitment to building a vibrant and sustainable township in Langkawi but also the group’s targeted approach to social outreach.
“By focusing on and bolstering one of the state’s key economic drivers, we ensure that our contributions have meaningful impact and contribute to the district’s long-term sustainability, in line with our core mantra of ‘Redefining the Art of Caring’.”
In addition to the renewed R&R centre, Tropicana’s social outreach efforts in Langkawi also include the Tropicana go-go-FIT 3km Beach Fun Run at Pantai Cenang held in July last year, which drew more than 200 local and international participants, and the launch of the Langkawi International Folding Bike Challenge in May this year.
“Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has always been integral to the way Tropicana does business, as spearheaded by the Tropicana Foundation and as part of our commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles. With ESG coming to the fore as as essential for corporates and organisations across the board, we see increasing focus on CSR activities as avenues for businesses to foster positive impacts throughout their value chains,” said Ang.
Tropicana Foundation was reactivated in 2011 and has since channelled over RM26 million towards charitable causes and underprivileged segments of society, the statement said.
The developer’s latest offering at its 5.28-acre Tropicana Cenang integrated mixed development in Langkawi is Assana Serviced Suites, comprising 831 seafront units.
