NCCIM appoints N Gobalakrishnan as president

KUALA LUMPUR (July 30): The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) has appointed Datuk Seri N Gobalakrishnan (pictured) as president for the 2024-2026 term.
Gobalakrishnan, who succeeds Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai, said his leadership will focus on further enhancing NCCIM’s stature within government circles, and local and international business communities, as well as supporting the Madani Government’s policies and fostering sustainable economic growth.
The association said it is excited about the fresh perspectives Gobalakrishnan will bring. 
“His extensive experience and proactive leadership are expected to lead NCCIM to new heights of success and cooperation,” it said in a statement.
The association also expressed its gratitude to Soh, noting that under his presidency, NCCIM grew in influence and recognition, facilitating impactful dialogue between local and international business communities and governmental bodies.
NCCIM said it remains dedicated to advocating for and supporting the diverse needs of Malaysia’s business community.
Founded by the government cabinet of the Federation of Malaya in 1962, NCCIM is the apex business organisation in Malaysia, comprising over 700,000 members across five constituent chambers.
The chambers are the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (MCCM), The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (MAICCI), the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).
